Emilie was in sitting on her bed, reading a book in the dormitory that she shared with two other girls, Autumn Cooper and Bridgette Riser. "Autumn seems okay, but whenever Bridgette walks into the room, that familiar tension comes back up to the surface again." Emilie thought to herself, trying to concerntrate on her book. She was reading 'Twilight' by Stephenie Meyer and was really enjoying it, but her thoughts made her read the same sentence over and over again. She sighed in frustration and settled her book on her bedside table, she would attempt to read later. She turned onto her back to look up to the ceiling and began staring into space.

Walking back to her dorm, Bridgette Riser carried two bags from the local grocery store. She was wearing short, denim shorts and a teal colored tank. On her feet were gray flip flops. Bree had stopped at the local store to pick up a couple items the dorm needed for the next week. Bree walked into Emilie's room and said. "Uh, hello. Sorry to interrupt.. or whatever. But I got some milk, snack foods and some soda to last us the week or so. No need to thank me, hon." She told her in a huff. For some reason the two didn't get along.

Emilie looked up at Bridgette from her dreamy gaze. "Oh hi. Cool, thanks, that will be good." Emilie replied awkwardly with an attempt of genuine smile, but the tension killed the effect.

Bridgette nodded. Emilie sounded just a tad.. oh, unthankful. Bree rolled her eyes, "Do you need anything else?" She was willing to do just about any errand to get out of the dorm.

"No thanks, I'm good." Emilie replied with another awkward smile. And just so she looked like she had something to do, she picked up her book and opened up at a random page and pretended to read, wanting this tension to go away. Emilie thought for a moment, shortly after she slammed her book on the bed, sat up and decided to seize the moment. "Okay no more pretending." Emilie said in an unnaturally stern voice. "There's so much tension in here, it's about to burst through the windows!" Emilie was getting a little riled up. "You've had a problem with me since I first came here and I'm dying to know what it is. So PLEASE tell me so I can stop wondering and move on." She finished with a sigh of relief, she had been wanting to get that out of her for a long time.

"Hm, okay." Bridgette sighed, looking around the room. Suddenly, Emilie slammed the book on the bed. "What the fu-" Bree started to say, but Emilie quickly shut her up. She listened to her room mate practically explode. Bee had never heard Emilie say anything remotely like that, and in that tone. "Um.. I don't know what you are talking about." She replied, quickly. "But honestly. You always seem so pleased to see me. Like what did I ever do to you? I'm sorry I ever moved into this dorm, but I had no choice. You're fricking Australian makes me want to scream." Bridgette yelled. "You think you're all that. It's like what the hell, Emilie. Maybe you don't. But you act like your too good to actually talk to me. Godforbid I ever do something wrong."
God, did that ever feel good.

Emilie listened to what Bridgette had to say. "Right." She began, taking a breath. "Forgive me if I'm not over joyed to see you every time you enter the room. I try to be nice to you, I really do, but you don't exactly welcome me when I enter a room either." She paused for a second, trying to keep her voice as calm as possible, but starting to fail. "What did I do to you? I could ask you the exact same thing. I can't help that I'm Australian okay?! What do you want me to do? Put on an American accent so that I can be called a fake? I won't do it!" Emilie began to raise her voice. "I think I'm all that?! Is that what you think?" Emilie began with an insane laugh, she was half amused by how wrong Bridgette was and half angry at the same time. "Well you're wrong okay? WRONG! Have you ever considered that I find it hard to be in a new school in an entirely different country?! That I still haven't gotten over the fact that my best friends, my home are all the way in Sydney?!" Emilie added, really angry now. "Think about that, instead of yourself for once." Emilie finished, thinking that the last thing that she said was kind of harsh, but she was too angry to apologize now. She swept her hair out of her face angrily, but at the same time, glad that she got all that off her chest.

"This is so not worth my time." Bridgette mumbled under her breath. Honestly, the junior couldn't care in the least. They both had different opinions about each other. Not anything new to Bree. "Okay. I can't help I'm an American girl with opinions. Get over it." She said, rolling her eyes, "It's half way through the year, Emilie. Get some friends, grow a back bone. Do something!"
"I'm not about to waste my time yelling at you. Maybe if you calmed down, for let's say, three seconds, and had an adult conversation, we could work past our differences? Or is that too American for you?" She asked sarcastically.
"Oh, and I'm sorry I care more for myself then you. Because I like myself a whole lot better then you, darling." Bee smirked.

Emilie rolled he eyes and took a deep breath. "Okay. In case you haven't notice, I HAVE done something. I HAVE made friends here and I value them as much as I do with my friends in Australia. But what am I supposed to do? Forget them? I don't forget my friends easily and I don't want to either." Emilie said much calmer now that she had gotten all that anger out.
Emilie sighed in disbelief. "In case you didn't notice, you were the one that started the yelling match. I was looking for a simple conversation, where we, like you said, could "sort out our differences", but noooo you had to have a go at me for being Australian. A pathetic excuse don't you think? Or do you discriminate against everyone who isn't American?" Emilie said, still in a calm (but stern) tone.
"Oh I don't think it's just me that you care less about compared to yourself. I think there is no one that your care more about other than yourself." Emilie said, matching her smirk.

"Okay, okay. Calm down. I get it, you've made friends. Congradulations! Should we have a party? I had to make friends when I moved from Pennsylvania too. I did it." Bridgette replied, in a stern voice as well.
"Actually.. it was you. Thank you very much. You're then one who was like 'There is like soo much drama'. And I just stood up for myself." Bree told Emilie, crossing her arms across her chest.
Right as Emilie said the last paragraph, saying that she didn't care about anyone more besides herself, a tear fell down Bridgette's face. She automatically thought of Leigha, her late sister. Boy, did she care for her more then anyone on planet Earth. Another tear trickled down her cheek. Bree shook her head, and walked out of the room, heading over to her couch.

"Then you should understand where I'm coming from." Emilie said with a sigh. "Okay, I think we understand the whole concept that we've both made friends, so let's move away from that okay?"
"No..." Emilie said slowly. "It was you...'Your fricking Australian accent makes me want to scream.' Emilie reminded her of what she had said. "Ring any bells?" She said raising an eyebrow. "That doesn't change the fact that you're discriminating me because I'm Australian." She explained as cival as she could.
Emilie was expecting Bridgette to come down on her hard, to say something insulting, so it caught Emilie by surprise when Bridgette did nothing about wander out of the room looking upset and she wasn't faking it either. Emilie could tell that she was genuinely upset. Emilie felt a stab of guilt about the last thing she said about Bridgette only caring about herself. Emilie followed her cautiously into the room. "Bridgette?" Was all she could manage to say. I mean, how do you comfort the person you dislike?

"Whatever, Emilie!" Bridgette yelled from the living room of the dorm. "Whatever, whatever. You win. I could care less." She said, inbetween sniffles. "Just go away." Bree screamed, tears running down her cheeks. Bridgette was just a tad emotional when it came to her sister. I mean, the two were very close. They were the best of friends.

Emilie sighed. She did not want to live like this, or even be enemies with Bridgette, so she did what a mature person would do. Apologize. Emilie sat on the same couch Bridgette was sitting on, but was very careful to keep her distance. "Bridgette..." She began in a soft tone. "I'm sorry if I've upset you...I didn't mean half the things I said to you...especially the part about you not caring about anyone but yourself. It's just...it's been hard...adjusting into a whole new lifestyle...and to know that you're being disliked because you're Australian...that's tough." Emilie sighed. "But, I'm sorry, for saying anything that might have upset you. That's not right." Emilie finished genuinely before standing up and slowly began walking to the door.

Bridgette sniffled as Emilie came to sit near the couch she was sitting on. She tried to hide her tears, while listening to her room mate speak. She nodded, as Emilie apoligized. Frankly, Bree was quite shocked. But as Emilie stood up, Bridgette stood up too. "I'm a selfish person." She said quietly. "Thanks for apoligizing... You didn't really have to... I would have gotten over it eventually." Bridgette sighed. "The reason I cried..." Bee started to say, "Well, my sister died a couple years back. And it was really hard on me... She was my best friend. And when that car crashed, I was completely depressed. I guess I'm still a bit bitter."
Bridgette took a deep breath, and tried to calm herself of her tears. "I'm really sorry."

"Yeah, but sometimes, apologizing is the right thing to do." Emilie said with a small smile. Her smile slowly slid off her face when Bridgette mentioned her sister. "I'm so sorry...that must have been hard for you." Emilie said softly.
"It's okay." Emilie said with a sympathetic smile when Bridgette apologized. "Forgive and forget?" She asked hopefully.
