Avery saw that he left his drink and picked it up. She didn't want him to be mad at her, so she sped after him, and held the drink in hand. She reached him and handed him the cup. "You forgot this. Listen, I'm sorry. It's just a kiss, I have options. I could decide to stand him up and never call him back. I get why you're mad but you said you wouldn't be..."

He took the drink from her and stopped, turning around to face her. "That's before I knew that you liked him and kissed him!" He yelled at her, not intentionally.

Avery took a deep breath and it came out as a sigh. She looked at the ground. "This is like a flashback. This same thing happened to me when I hooked up with you. This is so unfair. I never said I liked him, and of all people, Joe, I expect you of being capable of keping your own damn word..." She looked up him, almost a little hurt. Turns out you can't trust ANYONE...

Joe looked at her confused, and a little upset with himself for yelling at her. He noticed a few people staring at them. "What are you talking about?" Joe asked her calmly as he crossed his arms at his chest.

"What am I talking about?" Avery laughed, bitterly and just wished she had never told him. "This isn't fair. I hate this. Why do I have to go through this? With my own friend... this happened, I thought you'd get it. I guess no one does." She said, getting quieter with every sentance.

"Because we had a thing?" Joe questioned her. He never knew that she had gone through trouble just because they had a fling a while back. Now he felt bad. "Listen.... I..." He trailed off not knowing what to say.

"Yes, because we were 'together'!" Avery almost yelled, putting air quotes on 'together'. She hoped he felt bad... he should for what happened to her. "No, Joe. You know what, I don't want to listen to you." She crossed her arms across her chest and just shook her head so slightly she almost wasn't.
