Whit opened the room from the bathroom to his dorm. Steam rushed into the room as Whit, who was sopping wet and in a towel, walked over to his closet. Luckily neither of his roommates were in the dorm, because Whit didn't really feel like dealing with Joe right now. Although he really wanted Joe's face when he learned he was going out on a date with Avery.
He grabbed some clean boxers and some faded skinny jeans off his dresser and changed. They weren't girly tight jeans, just jeans that straightened at the end. Whit walked over to his iHome and switched on his iPod to Your Biggest Fan by Voxtrot. Familiar lyrics played as Whit rummaged through his dresser to find a suitable shirt to wear.
The city walls are reigning perilous and tall over dark chilling streets It's not weakness when you fall Oh it's just too much too fast Crash that column into the wall
Whit grabbed a navy blue shirt from his drawer and threw it on. He looked in the mirror, gave a small shug and walked over to his closet. He pulled out a green plaid hoodie and put it over his shirt. He picked the towel up off the the floor and rubbed his hair dry with it. Whit threw the towel on his bed and grabbed a comb of his bedside table. He ran the comb through his hair just to make sure it wasn't tangled.
And she says I want to live my life Don't want to waste my time I want a man who makes me feel like a woman I used to be your biggest fan I used to be your biggest fan Now I find that you are slipping in my estimation
Whit sang along off-key to the lyrics as he grabbed his iPod and ran out the door. Whit walked down the halls with his iPod in his ears, humming along with the tune. He reached the front of the school and pushed the door open. He strutted down the street. He couldn't wait to see Avery, because well he hadn't stopped thinking about her since the day in the library. His insides jumped at the thought of her, which made Whit nervous. He didn't like to be dependent on people.
He turned into the park and found an empty bench and sat there, waiting for Avery to arrive. He tapped his foot to the beat and closed his eyes. He opened them quickly, because he didn't want to miss her walk in.

Don't be || too hard || on your || self || Avery had been waiting for this for a painstaking two days. Too long , but appearences are everything. She couldn't wait to see Whit again. She had taken a shower that afternoon, and blowdried her hair and it looked like it always did, but down instead of up. She had done homework after that until about an hour before the time they decided on. She then threw on a dress from her closet, matching earrings and shoes and an adorable necklace she had gotten the week before. Internet shopping is god. She had made sure not to mess up her hair for all of about four hours. And by mess up, it means forget she had done it special and put it in a ponytail by accident and ruin it. Good thing she didn't. Half an hour remained until the date and she had enough time to put on a little bit of makeup, and make it there. She normally didn't wear any make up, only when she felt like it and even then only a little. But tonight was special. Whit was important to her so she wanted to look pretty. She put on foundation, blush, a light layer of a sparkly, neutral colored eye shadow, and plain black mascara. She was pretty happy with how it turned out. Avery picked up her bag, shoved her Blackberry, a compact, her iPod and a pair of flip flops into it and slung it over her shoulder. She checked herself in the mirror one last time on the way out and set off. She walked through the gym, across the courtyard and out through the front doors of the school. She walked for about 5 more minutes until she reached the skatepark. The park was about five more minutes away. At last she reached her destination and she walked through the little chainlink fence of the park, meant so little kids wouldn't run into the street. She looked around and saw Whit sitting on a bench. She decieded to sneak up on him. She walked around the long way and ended up behind the bench. She walked about ten steps on tip toe until she reached him. From this point on, she didn't know what to do. She put her head on his shoulder and kissed his cheek. "Hey there."

Whit flinched as he felt a head rest against his shoulders. He smiled as she kissed him on the cheek, he was happy she was finally here. He had only been waiting about 30 seconds, but still, it felt like a lifetime. "Wow, flower child. You came. I had an escape plan in case you decided not to show. I had my get away jet parked over there. It's invisible. He got up and turned around to face her. She looked beautiful in her dress, and Whit noticed she had taken the time to do her hair and put on some make up. She floored him, and all he could manage was a weak smile. He was speechless.
It took him a second to realize he was just standing there, staring at her. Whit bent down and kissed her on the lips. As he pulled away he remembered that fateful day when she kicked him, then kissed him. Life was funny that way sometimes. He reached twoards her and brushed a stray hair out of her face and tucked it behind her ear. "I'm glad you showed." That was all Whit could think of saying. He reached over and grabbed her hand. "To the swings?"

Avery had to hold back a little laugh as Whit flinched. He was a little paranoid... "Wow, invisible, huh? When I went to look, they were all out of invisible paint... I hope your jet runs on alterntive fuel, or I won't get away with you on it." She laughed this time. She was the kind of person who couldn't help but laugh at their own jokes. She smiled as he turned around, same old Whit, that wasn't bad, that was good. It was the Whit she kicked, it was the Whit she kissed, it was the Whit she had a massive crush on no matter how much her friends hated him. She took a little step closer to him in the silence. When he still didn't speak she panicked worried a little. "What's wrong? Is there something in my hair?" She wondered aloud, and shot a hand up to her hair, to ruffle out whatever she thought was in it. All this did was screw it up. "Damn, I forgot. I hope you don't mind, I think I like it better messed up anyway... Too much work to remember not to screw it up."She grinned a little as he brushed away her hair, abseloutly glowing inside. "I'm glad I did, too." She grinned even more, if that was possible. Smile is one of the things she seemed to do a lot around this kid... He grabbed her hand and she just about died. She had been waiting for this espically, this and a really big hug. Why? Well, hugs because, who doesn't like hugs. And this kid looked like he would give great hugs. He's just one of those people who are surrounded but a hug aura. And holding hands because Avery was a really touchy feely, cuddly person and she loved to hold hands and she hadn't in about a thousand years. Shes the type who love to fall asleep with someone next to them, the comfort thing. She laced her fingers into his and nodded. "So I can beat the swinging master."((ooc; i saw this on FUSE today after school and after I replied to this the first time and I thought of Avery and Whit. That couple is my definition of them :] espically the line "had my heart on lockdown, then you turned me around" it makes me think of Whit :]))

"Ah, you haven't even seen the swinging master in action! It's amazing."Whit pulled Avery in closer and put his arm around her shoulders. She was very petite, and dainty. Oh, but she had a mean bitch slap. She seemed like the kind of girl that was big on cuddling, and deep down inside, Whit liked cuddling too. He kissed the top of her head, it was so dandy and adorable. She had taken all this time to get ready just to see him. And all Whit did was shower and throw on some clothes. As they got nearer to the swings Whit let go of Avery and jogged towards the swings. He turned back to Avery and yelled, "I bet I can beat you to the swings!" He knew he would easy up and let her win, only because she looked so cute when she beat him.

By this time, she had gotten used to the anxiousness and the heart beating like crazy, but it was good to feel it agian. It was almost like the equivelant of being electricuted, but in a good way not bad. Also by this time, she had jsut realized how much taller than her he was. Almost six inches, either he was a giant or... yeah, he was a giant. "It probably is much more astonishing than I think it is," She paused as he put an arm around her. This made it worth it; this made Joe being mad at her and her roommate thinking she was a little off in the head and everyone thinking she was crazy compleatly worth it. "Mostly because I'm just a little biased on the subject."
As Whit set off running, Avery laughed a little to herself. The park did bring out the kid in everyone and Whit was just one big, TALL kid. "Last one there's a rotten egg!" She laughed as she began to sprint toward the right swing, she always loved the right swing. "But you can't let me win, or you're just a meanie!" She laughed again as she passed him. She was another big kid, too. Perfect match. Almost there...

right behind her hand picked her up by her waist. Whit was unusually strong and fast for his lanky skin and bones appearance. The only way he survived middle school was being able to run away really fast. Avery made Whit feel like a kid again, well just a kid. He didn't have much of a childhood. His father's strict army rules and the constant moving around made Whit grow up a lot faster than he would have liked to.
Whit lost his balance and fell onto the grass, making sure Avery landed on him and not on the ground. "Oh, Jesus. Sorry."He scrambled up and grabbed her hand to help her up. He didn't want to seem like a total asshole for just dropping her, but Whit didn't have the best track record for balance. Way to go moron! He thought to himself. Stop screwing up! He looked at her apologetically and hoped she wouldn't run away screaming.

Avery was caught between laughing and screaming as she felt Whit pick her up. She kicked a little bit, but not Whit. You can only kick someone so many times in a week. Once she realized that he wasn't going to put her down, she gave up a little, just laughing like a little kid. Which is really what she was, what they both were. Whit tripped and she knew they were going to be like a trail of dominos. He fell with a thud and she winced as she hit him. God she hoped she didn't kill him. He was, well, small. And she was... normal. So she could have... squished him. That would be bad.
She laughed possibly more as he acted all nervous and adorable about it. She chuckled, "It was an accident. I just hope I didn't crush you..." She took his hand and he pulled her up. The he did it. The look. She didn't get what he was so nervous for, but he always was and it was begining to lose it's charm... only a little. For a split second she thought about it, and bit the inside of her lip. Then crouching tiger made it's move on it's unsuspecting prey Avery just laughed a little as she leaned on hi a little, She got up on tip toe and put her arms around his neck and pressed her lips onto his sweetly.

The last thing Whit was expecting from Avery was a kiss. He wrapped his arms around her waist, and held her close for a moment before pulling away and staring into her eyes. She was so stunning, and just looking at her washed away all of Whit's nerves. She liked him for who he was, which was surprising because not a a lot of people did. "Wow, who knew that dropping a girl was a turn on? Hmm. Good to know. He bent down and kissed her on the cheek. He grabbed her hand swiftly, wrapping his pinkie around hers. "To the swings again? Perhaps more gracefully? Whit winked at her and lead her over to the swings. He let go of her hand and sat down on the left swing.
"So, how are we planning on saving the world this week? Freeing penguins from the zoo? Torching car dealerships? I'm curious Flower Child." Whit grinned as he wrapped his arms around the chains holding up the swing. She was so adorable when she talked about the environment. He was finally beginning to be his old self again, sarcastic, confident, charming. Whit was slowly easing into the whole "date" concept.

"Well, I had no idea..." Avery laughed a little, she bit the inside of her lip as he grabbed her hand and she followed after him. She made sure to take the right swing she sat in it. She pushed off with her toes and remembered something. "TIME OUT!" She almost yelled. She had forgotten to switch shoes. She got off, and grabbed her bag, fished the shoes out and shoved them on her feet. She dropped the flats by the bag and hurried back onto her swing, which was still moving back and forth from her jumping off of it. "Okay, time in." she laughed.
"Why would you do that, the penguis can only survive in cold weather and this is Florida, that would be penguin murder. Duh." She stated, as if it were the most obvious thing in the world. She pushed off the ground again and again until her feet wouldn't touch anymore and then did the trick every kid is taught. She was higher than him but it might not stay that way...

"Ah, I get it. No penguin murder. So that's not a turn on? It's so hard to tell with you girls." Whit smirked as Avery starting swinging high than him. He wasn't giving up that easily. He kicked his legs in and out, and eventually he was higher than Avery. His legs were much longer than hers, so chances were, he would always appear higher because his legs stretched out farther. But he wasn't going to tell her that. Why spoil the fun. They were having such a good time. "So, if you aren't liberating penguins, what are your plans for saving the universe? If it's anything illegal, I want in."
Whit kept swinging. "You know, that last time I went swinging was seven years ago. I was in school in Louisiana and this girl Janie Mae told me she could swing higher than me. So naturally I accepted the challenge. I tried to jump of the swing to impress her and I twisted my ankle. Janie Mae jumped off her swing and rushed to my side. Then she planted a big ol' kiss right on me. So the last time I was swinging, I got my first kiss. So, am I getting lucky, again? Whit grinned as she swung higher, and higher, while only looking at Avery.

Avery kicked and she kicked and after Whit had finished his bit about penguins, she was at his same level. She kicked harder to assure her winning and it was only keeping her at his level, but they were making the swingset shake... oops. She laughed a little. "The last time I went swinging was probably yesterday, since I swing every day. I love being outside and the air is so fresh out here, and it smells like the ocean at the park so I love it." At this point he was barely passing her up again, so with each kick forward, she now leaned back so she could obtain even more height. AND WIN. She listened intently to the rest of his little elementary school story. So cute. "Well, Janie Mae sounds like a Mary Sue... she was this little girl in my school in Maine who was the perfect little beauty pagent kid. She's the only person I've ever hated. I think she's actually Miss Teen USA now. It makes me sick..." She shuddered and chuckled a little. The type just got so old and she never understood how everyone loved Mary even though she compleatly didn't belong in the type of place they lived, everyone was against everything she participated in yet they loved her.
"The way I see it," She paused and looked over at him. "I'm here, so you've already gotten lucky. But who knows, the night is young..." She winked as she bit the inside of her lip. This kid made her bite her lips more than anyone else, so much that it was going to be her fault if she had permanant lip damage...

Whit chuckled as Avery tried to extend her body to make herself go higher, but it wasn't really working. He was swinging higher than her with ease, but he would probably just let her win so she would be happy. "Ah she wasn't really the Miss America type, more of the really sweet girl next door. Ironically she was my next door neighbor." He grinned and looked at her. "You are the funniest hippie I know. I love peace, except when I hate you. Which is a contradiction in its self. Peace and love, but only to certain people." She was very contradicting, and Whit would normally dislike her for that, but she was different and Whit didn't know why.
"The night is still young, eh? And I am so charming that you'll just have to kiss me again. I am blessed to be in your presence, but I'm a greedy bastard." Whit winked at her and stoped kicking for a moment until her legs and his were about the same height. It's rude to beat girls.

Avery kept streching even though she knew Whit was laughing at her. She didn't really care as long as she won, beating the swinging master and not saying something totally dumb were the only things on her mind right now. She saw he was still higher and as he spoke, she only half listened, trying to think of other ways to get higher... He finished and she was already confused. "Wait, what? I'm sorry I wasn't listening..." She trailed off. Strike one, that was really rude. She tossed him an apoligetic look as he spoke again.
She listened this time and smiled. "Yes, the night is young. You're not charming at all, you're quite a prude but I love it and I don't understand why. You confuse me, and I think that's what I like the most about all of this. It's something I can't conrol and I like that, I don't have to worry about this." She said all this as she swinged and just stared up into the sky. She snapped back into it and looked over at him, straight in his eyes. "I'm sorry, maybe I'm just rambling. I don't know anymore..." She smiled.
