Jamie was sitting on the swings gently swaying back and forth. For some reason she was in one of those depressed moods. It was rare for her, but it happened and she never knew why. She just sighed and continued to move, her feet drawing lines in the dirt under her feet. Jamie then looked up and around then her eyes went back to the ground.

Kaci had been running around town, she had heard of some great paths around Miami. She was nearing the end of her 10 miles when she made a turn and came out of a woods to a park. She decided this was a good place to stop and stretch and slowed her run to a jog. She checked her watch: 60:56. A new record for her. She walked over to a bench by the playground to untie her shoes. She looked around and noticed a girl sitting in a swing. Kaci was fairly sure she had seen her around school, but since she was new, she could never tell. The girl looked kind of sad and lonely. Kaci wondered if she should go talk to her. Maybe when I stop sweating . Then she saw the girl look up and decided not to wait. She pulled her shoes off and walked (barefoot) over to the swing next to the girl. Looking over, she said quietly, "Hey. You alright?"

Hearing someone ask her if she was okay, Jamie looked up to see a girl, who looked vaguly familiar looking at her. "Yeah its just one of those off days you know?" said Jamie. "My friends from back home called me and the guy I had this crush on is dating some other girl." she told the girl.
"I know you are probaly thinking 'well he is like a whole load of states away so why does it matter?' but I really liked the guy and she is just using him." said Jamie. "Or so they say. She likes the coaches son and yeah." Jamie then looked at the girl. "I am sorry I just told you all that. I apologize. I am Jamie." she said, holding her hand out to the girl.

Kaci laughed, "Oh it's fine, everybody here's got to have those days sometime, we're all so far away from home. I'm Kaci." Kaci shook her hand. "So, I assume you're new to the school?"

jamie nodded, Kaci had a point. "Yeah I just don't like having these days. IT sucks you know." she said. "Well nice to meet you Kaci. Yea I am new. What gave it away?" she asked.

Kaci thought for a moment. "Well, see I'm new here too and it's just kind of unusual for people at this school to be alone. Usually," She paused, "Usually, they're in large groups. I dunno. I guess I just haven't found my group yet!" She smiled and looked at Jamie. "Just for the record, I've been having one of those WEEKS." She smiled again, "I totally get where you're coming from."

Jamie laughed slightly. "Yeah well you know we can make our own group. Because as of right now, we don't have one so we are..normal or neutral. So we can have a neutral or normal group. Just because we are cool like that." said Jamie. "That sucks. Whats made your week so bad?" she asked.

Kaci laughed, "Well, see, I was forcibly... forced to come here. So I'm totally like, missing all my friends and teams and stuff from home cause I literally left, two days after my parents announced they were sending me. Totally blows. Why'd you come?"

"That sucks." said Jamie. "My parents divorced a long time ago and I moved in with my dad just last year and well I decided I wanted to come here instead. He let me because he figured I wouldn't get in as much trouble as I would at a public school." said Jamie, laughing slightly. "He doesn't know much obviously. Oh well he doesn't have to worry about me, I don't get in much trouble usually." she said.

Kaci laughed. "Yeah they sent me here cause I made some bad decisions and did some bad things and they think it won't happen here. If anything, it'll happen more I bet. Parents are REALLY dumb these days."

Jamie laughed some. "Yeah well my dad wasn't home much. He goes out on business a lot." she told Kaci. "But I am fine without him."

Kaci laughed as she remembered why she was here in the first place. "Yeah," she started, "I'm pretty into sports. I love soccer and I run like hell. I'm up for anything though." She checked her watch, which had a heart rate monitor on it and noticed hers was all the way back down. Good, she thought, that's where it should be.
