As Holly closed her eyes, Maxxie’s own heartbeat sped up, “Holly, stay awake, you have to stay awake okay…” He said, not even sure if she could hear him. He glanced nervously at Ryuu, who looked as panicked as him, this was one of the worst things that could happen. He stayed beside Holly, on his grazed knees and didn’t retaliate to Ryuu’s snappy comment, no normal conversation could be held at this moment, not even an argument. The atmosphere was stiff and scary, as if the dark night sky above them was about to crash down on top of the three people, or two remaining. That’s what it felt like.
Thankfully the ambulance arrived, and the loud sounds of the siren jeered Maxxie out of his daydream nightmare, everything was going to be fine. Eyes sick with worry he followed the movements of the paramedics and watched what they were doing to her wounds, he didn’t even feel the touch when Ryuu grabbed his wrist. He found himself sitting next to him in the back of the ambulance, Holly was lying on a stretcher in front of the two, and the paramedic had his back to them. Maxxie didn’t feel like saying anything, there was nothing to say, all they could do was wait, he thought of PJ as he noticed Ryuu get out his phone to call him, he would be feeling much worse than him and Ryuu when he got that message.
The ambulance was speeding, and the blue light flashed on and off on the windows reflection. Finally after what seemed a century of silence, the ambulance came to a halt, and the paramedic turned to talk to the two. “We’re going to take Holly straight in” He said calmly. The sound of his voice was making Maxxie uncomfortable and he was highly annoyed that this young man was acting as if nothing bad had happened, and there was nothing to worry about. Maxxie had seen how badly she was hurt, how much blood she had lost, all they could do was hope, because Holly hadn’t come back to consciousness. He nodded, thinking it was best to be polite or whatever, and was told by the paramedic “I’m afraid you too will have to wait in reception, when we know the full… situation, we’ll let you know” The driver had got out along with the other female paramedic, and they both began to prepare the stretcher, so it could be wheeled out of the van. “Are you related to Miss Kennedy? Either of you?” he asked, as the stretcher was carried out of the back of the van.
Maxxie shook his head in reply to the question as he watched Holly disappear around the corner, and stood up slowly, this time it was him who had to grab Ryuu. "She'll be okay right?" He asked, somewhat desperately, "When can we see her?"
The paramedic gave a pathetic shrug, and held his arm out, as an indication for them to get out of the ambulance. With a frown on his face Maxxie climbed out of the ambulance, he'd lost all track of time but it was defiantly around 3am now. The light from the main entrance of ER pointed the direction they had to go, he wondered how long they would have to wait exactly.

“Are you related to Miss Kennedy? Either of you?”
the paramedic speaking to them jolted Ryuu out of his numb trance. Looking up at the man, he shook his head. The paramedic waved them out of the vehicle. Ryuu followed Maxxie listlessly into ER’s lobby, and watched as Holly got wheeled away. The lobby was clean - too clean - and the air stank of strong antibacterial cleaners and had a faint underlying tinny smell of blood. There were several people milling around in the lobby area. A surprisingly young looking woman worked at the desk, her hair pulled tight at the back of her head and square glasses perched on the end of her nose. She was typing at a computer with long, fast fingers. A couple of older men with white coats on were chatting. Ryuu felt like laughing at the irony of the situation, one man was leaning against the counter with a cup of coffee in his hand, whilst the other discussed a clip board with patient’s details on it. It was just like a hospital drama. But this was no dramatisation, this was real life. His stomach clenching uncomfortably, he felt like pacing or something. Ryuu just needed to keep moving, just doing something to keep his mind off the bleeding Holly that was in the emergency room down the hall. He was still feeling hung over, his head pounding uncomfortably and his thoughts moving sluggishly, but fearful adrenaline was keeping him wide awake and anxious, like a strong coffee. Glancing at Maxxie, he sighed. “I’m going to call PJ,” he said stiffly, his voice was monotone. He didn’t have the heart to put out any emotions. Stepping outside again, he fumbled in his pocket for a squashed cigarette packet. His lighter was in there too, and he lit one. Drawing sharply, he let it out with a deep sigh, smoke curling away from his mouth and up into the black early morning sky. Closing his eyes, and tipping back his head, he tried to think of what to tell PJ. Should he explain what had happened? Reassure him that Holly was perfectly alright? Ryuu couldn’t bring himself to do either. It seemed to fake, like an unfeasible promise. Feeling dizzy, Ryuu stumbled over to the low wall that surrounded the hospital compound, and sat down. Rubbing his face with his hands - trying hard not to stab himself in the eye with his cigarette butt - he realised the enormity of the situation. When he’d first found Maxxie with Holly, bleeding on the floor, it had been so unreal he didn’t really register it. But now, it hit him like a tonne of bricks. How was he going to carry on if Holly died? She was one of the most important people in his life. Then he thought of PJ. God…PJ. That’s when he remembered something. Holly had a ring on her ring finger. Oh fuck…no way. This couldn’t be happening. If PJ was going to marry her, what the hell was he going to do if she didn’t make it? “ Oh mon Dieu. Comment est-ce arrivé?…” he muttered to himself, finding comfort in his native tongue. Sitting up again, he saw a woman gazing sympathetically at him on the other side of the car park, and he found he couldn’t tear his gaze away. As he brought his cigarette up to his mouth and took a puff, she narrowed her eyes and looked away. She looked too much like Claire. Biting his lip, he finished off his death stick and pulled out his cell phone slowly. His shaky hand made the pink butterfly phone charm jingle slightly, and he held the Barbie pink phone with both hands to stop the irritating noise. Typing in PJ’s number carefully, he brought the phone up to his ear. It rang for what seemed like an hour, and Ryuu started tapping his feet in irritation. Finally he was put through to PJ’s voice message, and he began to speak shakily. “H-Hi PJ…Look, I just have to do this as quickly as possible. I found Maxxie with Holly at about two, she was propped up against a wall by the beach, but Maxxie said she’d been lying in a puddle…of...a puddle of blood. She’s been …” he trailed off, sighing heavily, “Stabbed. And err….the shock or something has made her … go into labour. They’ve taken her into the emergency room and won’t let us see her but we might have some news by the time you get here. I’m waiting with Maxxie in the lobby. À bientôt. Conduire en toute sécurité.” Ending the call with French, he put away the phone, and wiped his eyes in irritation. They’d gotten hot and teary from talking about the state Holly was in. Who the fuck has done this to her? Getting up, he walked sombrely back inside, feeling the gaze of the woman on the other side of the car park boring curiously into his back. Back inside, it was freezing. He hadn’t noticed the coldness of the early morning outside, a gentle sea breeze brushing against his skin didn’t seem as hostile as the unmoving, air-conditioned atmosphere of the hospital. Sitting down next to Maxxie, he sighed and muttered a string of French curses. “Any news yet?” he asked, unsure how long he’d spent outside smoking. Glancing at the clock, he flinched. It was already quarter to four in the morning. This was going to be a very long day. He started tapping his feet against the floor, the soles of his shoes making a tacky clicking noise on the laminated plastic. [/sup]

He said hurridly. Holly. He was praying to god she would be fine. Practically begging the higher power to put him in her place, to spare her's and Coli's lives, To make sure they both made it through. Holly was his world, if he was to loose her.... well He hadn't a clue what he would do. thank god Ryuu had called him... thanks god Maxxie had found her. He just pleaded that she would be fine. "sir, only relatives of the patient are allowed in ICU." Pheonix didn't even glance at the woman, instead he slammed his hand down on the desk and in a shaky tone spoke "Damnit, My fiance' and my child are back there!" The woman looked startled, but agreed to let him through the double doors back to the ICU, which held the stench of blood and death around each turn. He had to find Holly. He had to make sure she was ok, and at least appear to be strong for her sake. [/ul]

For heaven's sake I know you're sorry But you won't stop crying This anniversary may never be the same Inside I hope you know I'm dying With my heart beside me In shattered pieces that may never be replaced And if I died right now you'd never be the same Holly had been wheeled in as quickly as possible into the intensive care emergency unit, bleeding lifelessly before every nurse and doctor that had been called in after being told trough the paramedics walkie talkie that they were expecting a young seventeen year old girl that had been stabbed and cut severely and who had gone into labour at the same time due to shock. Holly, being unconscious, was numb and could feel nothing as every pain receptor in her body had been shut down and her brain, hopefully, temporarily asleep. Otherwise; she would be screaming in agony from the stab wound in her shoulder and the slashes on her back and left hand. Her mobile phone lay ringing on her bedside table in her dorm, in the dark with nobody to pick it up. It was her brother Aaron, he loved Holly to pieces and was so protective of her although this time he couldn't quite protect her. There is no telling what he would think or do if he knew the situation Holly was in and what she had gotten herself into, and her other brother Oli Hart- he would probably want to join Holly if she died, he was her best friend in the whole world and he wouldn't want to live without his baby Older sister. The paramedics had wheeled her into the ER room calling out things that only nurses and doctors would know about her vital statistics, how low or high her blood pressure was and it wasn't very high considering she had lots a lot of it, what medicines they had given her and things that she needed. They injected her with vital adrenaline to prepare her body for its emergency situation It increases heart rate and stroke volume, dilates the pupil, and constricts arterioles in the skin which helps Holly to build enough platelets to try and stop her bleeding. They continued to shout out things as they took her from the ambulance stretcher to the proper hospital bed. They took her shirt from her hoping to get a better idea of how bad her wounds were, particularly the stab wound on her shoulder. They did all they could to control her bleeding and it did stop, mostly. They had stopped the bleeding in her shoulder while attaching several IV's to the back of her hands and the indside of her elbows and held them in place with special tape and gauze bandage but there was still something wrong. They had attached a heart monitor to her as soon as she came in and it the slow and quiet beeping of her struggling heart. They had never thought to the extent of how much blood she had lost and still hadn't yet given her an IV for a blood transfusion and her body was getting weaker and weaker by the second, there was no telling how much longer her body would live. As soon as they realised their horrific mistake they began to shout for A- blood after testing her for her blood type. After recieving blood packets they hooked them up to her but her vitals were still dropping. The next couple of minutes were vital for her and Nicoli. Within a couple of minutes her vitals continued to drop and drop further. If Holly were awake she would be asking for PJ, she wouldn't want to waste what she would think her last minutes were without him. Within minutes Holly's vitals had dropped completely and her heart monitor almost ceased to exist. She had flat lined and the long noise could be heard for what seemed like miles. The nurses and doctors were frightened for her. One of the doctors automatically raced for the defibrillator. He rubbed the large metal plates together and shouted the amount of volts and charged it to Holly's chest and let it go, her body lept half into the air and still nothing. The long sharp high pitched noise continued to ring out through the ER. They are usually allowed to do this up to four times but in danger for the baby they are only allowed to do it twice and if it doesn't work this time then there is no hope. The doctor shouted again for everybody to stand back while he tried again, he rubbed the metal plates together and shouted for a higher voltage and he crashed them down on her chest again. She is a lucky girl because that is what brought her back. The heart monitor started to beep again, slowly but steadily, still weak but she was alive and all the nurses sighed in relief. Also, as soon as that final voltage had ridden through her body it woke her whole body up and she opened her eyes again. For heaven's sake I know you're sorry But you won't stop crying This anniversary may never be the same Inside I hope you know I'm dying With my heart beside me In shattered pieces that may never be replaced And if I died right now you'd never be the same
And I will always remember you as, you are right now to me And I will always remember you now, remember you now

He stepped into the room, But was confronted by another doctor. One who urgent told him that he wasn't allowed in the room. As he tried to reason with the man, that dreadful sound filled the room. The lull of a flatline. Phoenix's heart sank and he immediately wanted to rush to her side, beg her not to go, instead, he was being forced out by a couple of doctors as another one shouted 'clear' over the rush of voices. " No.... please NO... Holly...... you've gotta help her" He was almost to histerics, shaking and pushing with all his force against the two doctors, but it was two against one. As he was forced out of the room, he could still here the flatline. Pressing his back against the wall, he slid into a sitting position on the ground "Fuck me..." His head was in his hands. This couldn't happen. Holly meant the world to him, and he was loosing her "God, please." Oh how he wanted her to just get up and walk out of the room, fine aqnd smiling brightly as usual. another faint 'CLEAR' was heard, and the flatline sputtered and returned to a slow monotone beeping. She was alive. My god she was alive. Phoenix could help the fact that tears were streaming down his cheeks. He was terryfied where this was headed, what would happen next.[/ul]

Max has frozen. It seemed like he was oblivious to his surroundings, he barely nodded his head as Ryuu told him he was going to ring PJ outside, (because you weren't allowed, or supposed to use your mobile phone in the hospital for some reason). He didn't even notice how long he was gone, because Ryuu had taken exceptionally long just for a phone call.He just sat in the hard plastic chair, in the large waiting room, waiting for any news, any news whatsoever.
Holly was a close friend and he couldn't even begin to think how he would fell if she didn't make it, let alone Ryuu who was like her brother but not by blood, then there were her actual brothers, her family and Phoenix, he would not be able to cope. It was all too much to even think about. Why did this happen to her, she was the life and joy of the party, she'd never done anything to deserve such a fate.He woke up from his gaze as Ryuu sat back beside him and shook his head in reply to the question, just as his thoughts trailed onto PJ, the other boy ran in almost hysterical.
Looking awkwardly at Ryuu, Maxxie couldn't decide whether or not to comfort PJ, but he'd soon disappeared around the corner to try and fine Holly's room. Impatiently, he stood up and headed over to the receptionist that had just let Phoenix through, he knew they probably wouldn't be allowed to go in and see how she was doing, god he hoped she was okay, it was most likely only family, and Phoenix did count as that, seeing as he was the father of the baby and all.
Resting his arms on the counter he glared at her, but he hadn't meant to look so threatening or sound it when he asked, "Look, can we just go and see her, you need to let us through!"
The receptionist sighed and said, "I don't have to let you through, only relatives are allowed through, I understand you are worried, but I can only advise you to wait here, why not get a cof-" but Maxxie cut her off.
"I don't want a fucking coffee!" He yelled, "I want to know if Holly's okay, whats taking so long!" Running his hand through his blonde hair he headed back over to the seat and slumped down, his head hitting the wall behind him, they had to have some news by now.

Maxxie shook his head, and he swore, holding his head in his hands and resting his elbows on his knees. He was still shaking, and he couldn’t stop. Someone raced past, and he looked up wearily. It was PJ, and he was shouting at the receptionist. Ryuu winced, and glanced at Maxxie at the same time Maxxie glanced at him, and bit his lip. He wasn’t sure if they should go after him. It seemed like a good thing to do. PJ didn’t deserve to be on his own right now. Maxxie and Ryuu seemed to come to the same decision at the same time, because they both stood up at the same time. Ryuu would have laughed if they were under different circumstances. He glared at the receptionist as she had a ridiculous conversation with Maxxie. He hesitated as Maxxie stomped off, and narrowed his eyes at the receptionist. “How do you sleep at night?” he growled. She looked taken aback, and Ryuu followed Maxxie back to his seat.
After a few moments of sitting in anxious silence, a small commotion was heard down the hall. Ryuu swore vibrantly in French - none too quietly either - and jumped up. Grabbing Maxxie’s wrist, he pulled him up. “Fuck this,” he spat, and stalked past the receptionist, who was looking infuriated. Ryuu quickly spotted PJ, who was wrestling with a couple of doctors. He broke into a jog, but froze when the monotone sound of a heart monitor on a flat rang out through the hall. He stepped back, his breathing heavy. “No…” he whispered, casting a frantic look at Maxxie, before running over to PJ. Kneeling down, he felt his heart twist. PJ was crying, but he looked relieved. Ryuu strained his ears, and realised that the monitor had started up again. Rocking back on his heals, he sighed. “She’ll be fine. Holly’s got a fighting spirit, you know that. She’s not going to leave us in peace just yet,” he smiled weakly, and patted PJ’s shoulder. Ryuu had always been crap at comforting people.

And that's when the screaming started. As soon as Holly had opened her eyes, her body still in complete shock from what happened about two hours ago. Adrenaline pumping furiously in every part of her body. She didn't understand anything, everything looked like a fake blur and it was all to fast for her brain to comprehend what her eyes had seen. Everything and everybody was moving too fast and she was scared. Without warning, like a defense mechanism, she started screaming, she was hysterical even though she was incredibly weak. She didn't think she had any scream left in her after all her screaming from earlier on but she continued to scream. She didn't have a clue where she was or who all these people were that surrounded her and she paniced. She looked around in a paniced daze as two of the nurses tried to keep her still and were shouting to her and asking if she could hear them. All to right she could hear them and she wanted to punch one of them in the face for holding her down. Where was she? How can she get out of it? She tried to lift her arm in a wild fury but found it feeling numb and well to heavy for her to pick up. She tilted her head a little and saw all the needles and small thin tubes from her arms and hands and she started to scream again. What was this? some kind of alien experiment? It was to her. She reached her hands quickly as she could to try and pull them out. She had managed to pull out one of them, and it was painful, before a third nurse had grabbed both her arms and tried to stop her from puling out any more IV's. She kept shouting to her that she was in the hospital and that she had to relax for her and her baby's welfare. She couldn't care less if she was in the hospital, she didn't know what for. She only knew that there were three women trying to hold her down and trying to stop her from screaming again. Holly is a tough cookie and she doesn't give up easily. She continued to struggle against the nurses and that's when she felt a stabbing pain in her stomach causing her to cry in pain. She didn't think she had the energy in her but she forced herself past the nurses and her shoulder started to bleed again as she curled herself around her very obvious bump and shrieked in pain. She knew this wasn't right, he shouldn't be coming just now. She didn't get to sit up for long though, as soon as she shot up one of the male doctors had pushed her back down onto the bed as gently as he could but with enough strength that she couldn't fight back while they attended to her bleeding shoulder again and re-attached her IV's that she managed to pull out. She knew she had no energy in her anymore and she let them do whatever they were doing to her. She didn't know whet they were doing to her and she started to cry and sob at the same time as they prodded about her shoulder with sponges and bandages. There was only one thing on her mind as it drifted into a sleep again, as one of the doctors had injected her with a mild sedative, and that was PJ, she needed him and she didn't know where he was. He was always with her and it scared her even more in her situation that he wasn't with her. if only she knew that he was just outside the room she was in.

Phoenix asked as one of the doctors came past "We're pretty sure its from shock, sir... she'll be fine. However, you shouldn't be back here. Family on--" Phoenix cut him off "Damnit, I am family and you pretty fucked up if you think i'm going to leave her side" He paused, His yelling becoming substantially more quiet "Just please.....please. Let Me see her, I've got to let her know that I'm here." The doctor looked at him questionably and Phoenix added to one of the nurses "And I'd like to know how the baby is doing" For a moment, the reluctance of the doctor wore off and he nodded "Ok, but only for a moment" By this time, the screaming had worn down and was nothing more that a painful murmur. Phoenix weaved through the doctors and came up to the side of Holly's bed. He gently picked up her hand and leaned down to kiss her forehead, tears still held in his eyes at seeing her in this state "I'm here baby" He said softly before one of the doctors touched him on the shoulder and informed him that he had to leave now. Within another minute, PJ had reluctantly slipped his hand out of hers and stepped out of the room, coming up next to Ryuu and Maxxie "She'll be fine." He repeated the words that Ryuu had givin him earlier, if for nothing else than to try and reassure himself of that fact.[/ul]

As the sedative was injected into Holly to make her relax she began to feel a bit funny as she relaxed. She felt like she had fallen through a set of clouds, like a fallen angel. Her body couldn't help but go into a relaxed state as she tried to fight it off, but it was useless. She continued to look around in a slight panic, feeling like part of a huge alien conspiracy. The only thing she could feel was a throbbing in her left shoulder and the rappidly occurring sharp shooting pain in her stomach which was her very impatient baby but Holly is a strong, tough cookie and refused to show the intensity of the pain she was in but it was written on her face and her body language. She hated to be fussed over a lot of the time and now was one of those times, especially by people she didn't know who they were. She wanted to scream again but found herself unable to due to her relaxed state. It was as if her body was relaxed but her mind was going too fast. She wanted to cry but found herself unable to which she found frustrating. She began to feel a bit weird in her right arm and she didn't know what it was, it was feeling, a sensation she had never felt before and she knew she shouldn't feel like that. She began to sweat more than she was and her temperature increased to a high 102 and she felt like she couldn't breathe properly and the nurses had yet to notice her forever faster beating heart monitor, they were too oblivious as they too busy were concentrating on her shoulder and her slashed hand. They knew that her baby wouldn't come for some hours yet so they were not too concerned about him just now. She tried to look around as she felt somebody pick up her unhurt hand and kiss her forehead, why would somebody be doing this to her just now, in her state? She felt them squeeze her hand and she opened her eyes a bit further and she had to blink a couple times to realise that it was PJ that was next to her. She knew that this couldn't be real, she must have gotten into heaven already because she wanted nothing more than him to be by her side and she knew it couldn't be true. After a couple of minutes which seemed like hours to Holly she felt PJ let go of her hand as the tears fled her eyes, she coughed a little, she couldn't breathe right and tried to speak for the first time since her incident. "PJ, dont' leave me, please" she whispered but to her it seemed as if she was shouting it. "PJ, don't go" she muttered a bit louder, she wanted nothing more than the strength to be able to call him back but he never came back and she paniced a little again, where had he gone? why wouldn't he come back? she needed him back and was she ever going to see him again? A severe allergic reaction is what she was having due to the sedative they had injected her with as one of the nurses had noticed her faster and faster beeping charts with a forever increasing heart rate. They shouted for one of the head doctors to have a look and he shouted for the nurses to move out of the way as he realised what was happening as Holly's eyes had rolled almost to the back of her head and became unconscious once again. Her monitors started to beep at an alarming rate and the noise would scare any person, all different types of alarms going off in different directions and at different times and she flatlined again. The doctors and nurses began to run around wildly again as the head doctor shouted 'Clear' again and crashed the silver plates down on her chest again. They waited for around thirty seconds to see of any changed had occurred and nothing, the ring of the flatline continued to sound through the whole cold, eerie, fake lighted night-ridden corridor. The nurses and doctors were almost ready to give up on her and call the time of death when the doctor calimed that he needed to try again, try again so she could live to see her baby. He held the large silver plates down again on her chest and let it go making her body jump half in the air. She was lucky that the doctor wanted to try again rather than give up on her like he had done so many young girls that had come into the ER in this state but none of them had been pregnant and he just had to try to allow the girl to see her child. Her heart monitor started to beep again and it was a very strong beat this time, stronger than after the first time they had brought her back and they were all relieved for her.
