It feels || G O O D to ||feel this W A Y Avery was walking the beach on this unusually windy day in the early spring. Well, early spring for Florida at least. She missed the cold of Maine, where you could only go swimming at the beach for one month a year. Here you could go all but one month of the year and she somewhat hated that. She brushed her bangs out of her eyes as she walked, the foaming oceam splashing up onto her feet and shoes now and again. She didn't mind too much. She could clean the shoes, and she wouldn't be mad about it. She loved the earth, the water, the whole lot of it. She pushed her hair out of her eyes and tied it back loosely with a hairband. She noticed a group of girls scurrying off the beach and looked past them. She laid eyes upon an ebony haired boy. As she got closer to him, she could see he looked very sad. She then reckognized him, it was her friend Lyric. She walked over to where he was and met stride with him. She looked up at him, her eyes concerned. "What's wrong?"

The voice caught him off gaurd. He halfway expected the girl to keep walking, most people who had heard about his past and his many fiasco's tended to stay a good deal away. However, by her voice, he new it was Avery. Without even glancing up, Lyric reached into his pocket and pulled out a pack of cigarettes. He lit one and took a puff of it before laying the box beside him, as if offering saying 'take one if you want it'. A few puffs of the cigarette was taken before Lyric glancing up, stray strands of black hair obscuring his view. "Nothing.. everythings fine" Ok, so he was lying. It wasn't unlike him to do so however, and it shouldn't be a shock to Avery. It was hard as hell to get anything out of the boy. Usually his responses involved a few choice words. He acted tough. Yes, thats what it was... an act. A mask to hide his fears and his pain. Patting the ground next to him, he looked at her, then out to the ocean. He was welcoming her, allowing her to see the caring side of him. Which was rare and was only a privelage to good friends.[/ul]

Avery noticed his eyes, they looked in her direction and she sensd something in them. A certian quality. She knew Lyric and this was not right, his eyes were normally alight with even a little bit of happiness. But today it was like someone had drained it all right out of him. He spoke and she shook her head. She could tell that his short reply was not the truth. It was obvious. They were friends, why would he lie to her? For a second she wondered if it was about her, but then she shook the thought from her mind. Dumb, she told herself. Why would he concern himself with thoughts of her. They were only friends. she knew it and he knew it, and they were both happy with it that way. His hand bounced unenthusiastically on the ground next to him and she looked down at him. She proceeded to sit where he had motioned, indian style with her legs crossed over one another. She took off her shoes and placed them to her left, the sea coming up to them every few seconds. They didn't get wet, though, because they had sat far enough away. Her eyes laid on the ciggarettes and she shook her head, meaning 'not today'. She pushed the box toward him as she spoke. "That's not true," Avery shook her head at him, attempting for her eyes to meet his. "There's something going on and I want to know what it is." Yes, she was curious. But he was also her friend and she hated to see him sad, she wanted to help him. Maybe if he talked about it... then again.
ooc; i'm going to go to lyric's relationship plot and change Avery to a friend with benifits. I think it fits this a little more... just so you know XD

He muttered. His sister had never been big on the whole drug thing, and she had blamed their mother for the fact that Lyric used them. She always tried to get him to stop, and yet he had always fought back. She would still be dissapointed in him. For a moment, he felt remorse, but that went away and brought his foot down on the box. "Damnit" He muttered through clenched teeth. Taking a moment, he stared at the ground before glancing back over to Avery "Sorry..." He added running his hand through his hair "Just thinking about a lot today" He replied. He was being somewhat honest, he was slowly coming around.[/ul]

Avery watched him intently, like she could read what he was feeling. Heck, maybe she could but she seriously doubted it. Lyric was one person who had layers, he wasn't shallow and he didn't have an easy personality. It took a lot to understand him, and Avery knew for sure that even she didn't yet. She wanted to though. It would help. He dropped the smoking ciggarette and it continued to burn on the ground until it burned itself down to the filter and stopped. He spoke, softly and muffled yet she heard it. She wouldn't have understood unless she had known who he was talking about. And she did; his sister. She watched, pity and sadness flooding through her, as he stomped his foot down on the box. This is how you know he's upset. He cursed and she didn't mind much. She didn't use curse words all that much but if she steps on something in the dark or drops something on her foot, a few choice swears might slip out. She shrugged it off, he was mad or sad or something. She wouldn't bother him with something as stupid as that. He spoke and she smiled sadly at him, moving so that she could see his bright green eyes with her own brown ones. "Yeah, I can tell you're thinking about a lot. You want to talk about it?" She scooted closer to him, he wouldn't even give it a thought. They'd done much more than that before...

It might not have been exactly true, but he had lost plenty. He had even felt like he had lost control of himself. He stopped letting emotions rule him and instead let physical things rule him. glancing back over, He gave a completely fake smile, as if to try and reassure he that he was fine.[/ul]

Avery smiled involuntarily as Lyric's green eyes bore into her own. She couldn't help it if she had a teensy crush on him, well she could but at least she knew it would never happen. They had sex, that was really all she needed to fool herself into thinking he liked her a little bit back. Maybe it's a girl thing, being attached to people you... well, you know. He looked at her and she flashed back, to a few times. Their first time in his dorm. His roommate had walked in, embarrassing. To the last time, recently, her heartstrings twinged as she remembered that it was casual. It meant nothing. She could never let him know she thought about him like that. He would probably stop talking to her. He pulled her closer to him and she sighed. Just what she needed. She couldn't stop now. He talked and she snapped out of whatever stupid little trance she was in. He sounded so sad, crushed almost. She heard his words and absentmindedly her own slipped out. "Your sister." He tried desperatly to smile at her, to seem happy but this she could see right through. "Wipe that fake smile right off your face. It's just like lying, and I don't want you lying to me." She said, her voice soft and caring as her hand placed itself upon his cheek. She wasn't trying to do anything but be a good friend to someone who needed it. And right now, Lyric needed it.

Maybe it was wrong to do people in such ways, but he honestly wasn't just using people. He had made friends this way, and often times felt a slight crush, which he dismissed. He couldn't let himself get close. However, Avery was a different story. He looking down at the ground before tilting his head up as Avery's hand brushed across his cheek. His green eyes met with hers, searching for somethign to make him just stand up and leave. Anything to shake himself away, however... he found nothing. In that moment, he couldn't hold himself back. He leaned forward, his lips pressing against hers in a kiss. It lasted a moment, sweet and savory, almost innocent, as if there was more than just pure physical attraction in that moment. Then, He pulled away and off in the distance.[/ul]

Avery felt a lot better when she saw him smile. She could tell that it was for real. She continued to look at him, seemingly in deep thought. She wondered momentarily what he was thinking about but she realized that it wouldn't matter to her. She would never know, he would never tell it was just who he was. Closed, that's the type of persnality he had when it came to talking about things. A contrast of sorts with Avery's, she liked to talk. But then again, she could hide things. Like her crush. Well no, that wasn't hidden. She was sure he could tell, and she was also sure he thought it was pathetic. Like her. Maybe she was wrong, but she usually wasn't. Even though it isn't like Lyric was predictable. Well, maybe she was, what the hell did it matter. It would never happen and she knew it. It was always just going to be getting high together and having meaningless, causal sex. Maybe she should just settle and let that be enough. He looked into her eyes again, and she felt a rush. Like he was looking for something in her. He wasn't. It was stupid. Before she could even know what was happening, Lyric's lips were upon her own. She was shocked for a second, her eyes opened wide. She then eased into it but before anything happened, he was gone. She looked over at him, confused as ever. Her jaw was dropped, and she could have caught a fly. "W-What the... hell w-was that...." She stuttered.
What a disaster it would be if you discovered that I care, a little too much for friends but not enough to share...

He said it so casually, as if he could easily hide the feeling, easily toss it to the side and make her think it meant nothing. He had to right? The was the only way to keep people away. However, he had a fear that Avery could see right through his little facade. "I...I didn't mean for that to happen" He added.[/ul]

Avery swollowed hard, her thoughts spinning. What the hell just happened. He kissed her. He really kissed her. I mean, sure, they'd kissed before and done plenty more but this was different. She crossed her hands in her lap and looked out at the ocean, her eyes still wide, her jaw still dropped. Momentarily incapable of logical thought. Maybe? Yes. All that her mind could register was that his lips had touched hers and they weren't having sex and it wasn't by accident. What was wrong in the universe right now. The planets must be out of line or something... because this was unreal. Abseloutly unreal. Her hopes were up and she knew she was going to be crushed as soon as the fateful word fell from his lips. Sorry. Little too late for fxcking sorry. Nevertheless, she shrugged, still unable to look at him. She looked out and watched the blue green ocean recede and come back time and time again. Something certian, it would never stop and you could count on it. One only wishes life was as predictable. That people were so predictable. He spoke again and she mustered up speech. "Good... because I didn't mean to like it..." She trailed off. Not exactly what she meant to say but it would work. NOT.

He replied calmly, Leaning back and letting himself fall back onto the sand. The steady rise and fall of his chest could be seen, but his green eyes were hidden behind closed lids. His dark hair fell into the sand, picking up its golden grains. He didn't feel like moving... he wasn't understanding it. "We should go out and get high or drunk or something" He muttered finally, knowing that one thing would probably lead to another... but damn... he felt like he needed it. Just one more think he was addicted to.[/ul]

ooc; wrong account and no motivation sorry the reply is late/sucks/whatever
Avery too fell lifelessly into the sand, her torso leaving the imprint of itself in the dry-wet grains. She landed with a resounding thud, not minding the momentary twinge of pain. She sighed, looking up into the sun as if that would make what just happened, not have happened. She blinked, the sun itself appearing in her closed eyes as well as open. It did that sometimes, she knew. "Would you shut up. Burning bridges is a form of suicide." She rolled her eyes, barely knowing what she was talking, more pathetic than poetic. Not a surprise. She chuckled, the irony of it all could just kill her. "What just so we can have meaningless, sex that we'll never remember. Fuck that." She shook her head, her hair picking up an impossible amount of sand. Shit. That would take forever to wash out.
wishing for a permanent kiss that would echo through these bones like arsenic, i can figure out the point of anything just not as quick as i can mess up my life, with all my dreams hooked to hospital machines i think at last i'm redefining beautiful, if theres one thing i've learned its you'll always get burned but you'll never get enough.

He mumbled sitting up, yet not bothering to brush the sand out of his hair. He felt numb, but for once he didn't like it "Look, obviously i've screwed everything up.... I've got to go you know my number if you need me" He mumbled, standing up and picking up his shoes. He glanced at her again before turning and begining to walk to the parkinglot.[/ul]
