Rainy Day By Neko-san, staring The Infamous Ryuu James.
Early dawn light shone through a chink in the curtains, and The Infamous Ryuu James rolled over in bed, groaning sore throatedly. His head was throbbing; full of the hazy cloud of eight pints he shouldn’t have drunk. Opening one eye, he glanced at his bedside clock. It read 7:09AM. Grumbling irritably, he sat up and rubbed sleep from his eyes, picking up the duvet he’d flung on the floor in a fit of nightly tossing. Yawning widely, he got up, pulled the curtains so that the light didn’t get through, before padding into the bathroom.
After freshening up as quietly as he could, he came back into the dorm and pulled on some clothes. He glanced over at Tom, who was a mass of snore and dreadlocks under a thick blanket. Ryuu sighed; Tom would no doubt wake up if he used the microwave, so he decided to go down to the kitchens to get breakfast. Only the freshmen tended to eat in the cafeteria at the weekend, but it was a good place to go when you woke up before your temperamental roommate. Before he left the dorm, he peered out the window onto the grassy court yard. To his dismay, it was raining heavily, the sky was laden with heavy black clouds and the ground was saturated with water. In a flash, Ryuu’s brilliant green eyes lit up, and then he smirked mischievously. Getting down on his hands and knees, he reached under the bed and pulled out a small box. Sitting on his bed he opened it, and looked inside. A small video camera was nestled in a pile of Styrofoam bow shaped thingies. The mischievous grin came back again as he turned it on and swept the room with it. Stealthily moving over to Tom, holding the camera steadily in his hand, he filmed a close up of Tom’s nostril, before pulling back and pinching it gently. Tom snuffled, and Ryuu tightened his grip. With a gasp, Tom sat up, whacking Ryuu away in fright. “Ryuu! What the-” he suddenly stopped talking, because Ryuu had already raced out the door.
On a rainy day, not one person on the whole campus was safe from the wrath of Ryuu’s boredom. The last video camera raid Ryuu had done was back in LA, so no one knew what they had coming for them. When Ryuu entered the cafeteria with a video camera plastered to his face, the smattering of early risers looked up curiously at him. One early riser in particular looked more curious than the rest. Pausing the film for a moment, Ryuu grinned at the familiar face, and jogged over, parking himself in the chair next to Parker Lewis. Parker was a sophomore, and stood about a head and a half shorter than everyone else (with the exception of Reagan and Holly, but the author would like to remind you that everyone is taller than Reagan and Holly.) and was, in Ryuu’s opinion, rather good looking. “Yo, Ry. What’s up?” Parker grinned at the boy opposite him, and pushed his wayward bed hair out of his face. Ryuu replied with a smirk, and pulled out his video camera. “Good morning, Parker. I’d like to ask you a few questions for my Video Cam raid,” he put on a heavier French accent than usual, and Parker laughed. “Okay…” the sophomore began hesitantly, “As long as they’re not kinky,” he pouted slightly, and Ryuu made an innocent face as if to say ‘me? Kinky? NEVAH!’. “Right…When was the…HOLY MOTHER OF GOD!” Ryuu suddenly sank down very low in his chair, and stared down at the floor. “What…What’s up Ry?” Parker tipped his head on one side, confused at Ryuu’s sudden change of mood. Ryuu discreetly pointed at someone behind Parker, and the younger boy turned to look. He spotted someone he’d never seen before, who was talking to Bill Adler, and guessed that was what was up. Ryuu was scowling darkly at Bill, before flicking his gaze to the other boy and looking panicked. “I gotta go,” Ryuu hissed, and slid out of his seat, racing almost doubled over to the edge of the large room and sticking to the wall - still doubled over. When he saw that the strange boy and Bill weren’t looking, he straightened up, and spotted Liam and Holly coming into the room. Walking over to them briskly, and getting out his video camera, he hid behind Liam and made a ‘shh’ noise. Holly turned and grinned at him and Ryuu’s face fell when she took a breath to greet him loudly. Putting a finger to her lips, he shushed them again. “I’m not here, kay?” he hissed, and held up his camera, indicating that he wanted to film people without them knowing. Holly looked confused, but shrugged, and continued her conversation with Liam.
When they got to the queue to get their food, Ryuu glanced round Liam, satisfied he wasn’t going to get spotted by the new guy, and straightened up, putting his camera on the tray as he slid it along the service counter. “Wow, Ry, nice camera!” Liam’s face lit up as he looked at the electronic with interest. Ryuu cringed, and the new boy spun on his heel, face like thunder. “Well…Fuck…” Ryuu muttered, and turned away, head down. Holly’s face lit up in understanding, and then concern. Racing to get his food, Ryuu grabbed a mini box of fruit loops, and a small pot of milk and a bowl, before turning and hurrying to the busiest corner of the room. Holly and Liam followed, and the new boy less closely - his identical green eyes narrowed venomously.
Sitting at a table, Ryuu ripped open the box of fruit loops and tipped it into the bowl, before drenching it with milk. Holly kept glancing over her shoulder, but stopped when the new boy sat down away from them. She turned back to her toast, and smiled at Ryuu. “Why you up so early, Ry? No hangover today?” she grinned, and Liam rolled his eyes. Holly put a hand on her stomach, which - to Ryuu’s surprise - was now bulging slightly. Ryuu looked away, and fixed his eyes on his cereal. “I’m hung-over as a guy in a fireman’s lift,” he grumbled, poking his food listlessly. “Who was that guy anyways?” asked Liam, glancing round to look at him. He were still talking to Bill, sitting apart from everyone else. “He’s my wonderful twin brother, Irja. And he’s here to kick my ass,” Ryuu muttered dejectedly.
Ryuu thought he was in the clear, and after he filmed Holly and Liam making silly faces, they left the dining hall, and were looking at the notice board outside under the covered walkway when the new boy came out. “Ryuu! I find you now. Finally,” his accent was thick French, and he struggled with his wording, like a B- language student. Ryuu cringed, and Holly and Liam looked awkward, and left. “Have fun, Ry,” Liam whispered in his ear as they passed, and Ryuu turned and gave him the finger. Irja waited patiently, tapping a foot, with his arms crossed. Ryuu glared daggers. “What do you want?” Ryuu’s tone was bitter, but even his sharp words were muffled by the sudden surge in the rain that thundered down around them. Only the flimsy canopy that encircled all the school’s buildings staved it off. “Ryuu, what do you think? What do you think?” Irja’s voice was laced with terse venom, and Ryuu’s glare didn’t soften. He turned to walk away, but Irja lunged forwards and dug his fingers into his shoulder, pulling him back. “Disappear two years, you did, and you expected me to do nothing!?” Irja yelled in his face, clearly angry. Ryuu flinched away from the vice-like grip on his broad shoulder, and Irja let go, looking almost disgusted he’d touched him. “I didn’t expect you to randomly turn up like that!” he retorted, equally angry. “How else was I to find you? If you knew I was to come, you would run away. You run from everything, like a frightened horse,” Irja had passed his angry stage, and his voice was now scarily calm, yet still unthinkably angry. A few students who had come out the cafeteria were watching them curiously, wondering what they were yelling for. “And you wonder why I left! I was sick of you and Stephen telling me what to do all the time!” he growled, spitting the name like an evil curse. “I and Father,” Irja corrected bitterly, “Needed to tell you what to do, because you always high on crack.” That was a low blow for Ryuu, and he stepped forwards, grabbing Irja by the collar, and spinning him to push him against the wall, twisting his collar close to chocking him. “What I did was my own business, you have no power over me now, brother. Fuck off back to Dijon and mend what you broke,” he hissed, face inches from Irja’s. The words fell on Irja with little meaning, and he took a while to think them through. Suddenly his expression darkened, bright green eyes burning intensely. “Don’t you DARE bring Claire into this! You were the one who messed up her life! Remember?” he screamed, pushing Ryuu away so violently that the more powerfully built boy tumbled back and landed heavily on the base of his spine. “C'est ta faute, elle est tombée enceinte! Tu es celui qui s'est enfui de votre petite amie et son enfant! Comment osez-vous mettre le blâme sur moi!” Irja spoke low and fast, and Ryuu’s eyes narrowed in pain and fury. He slowly stood up, wincing at the pain in his back. “You…You’re the one who broke her heart, idiot,” Ryuu growled. This was a bit close to home, and Irja backed away slightly, mouth agape. “But…What…No! Don’t turn it around,” Irja hissed, clenching his fists angrily. “Yeh, that’s right! She made me get her pregnant, to hurt you!” Ryuu’s tone rose and he smirked maliciously, seeing the pain blossom in Irja’s face like blood from a wound. “Bastard,” Irja hissed, and turned on his heals, walking swiftly away. Someone coughed behind Ryuu, and he turned, still angry from his fight with his brother. It was Oli, who was looking concerned. “Who was that?” he asked, cocking his head to the side, and running a hand through his coarse black hair. Ryuu shook his head, not really sure. Was Irja really his brother? He certainly didn’t act like one. Stepping forwards, he pulled Oli into a hug, breathing heavily, trying to stave off his anger. “Irja…My brother,” he muttered, like those three words would explain the whole thing. Oli nodded thoughtfully, and opened his mouth to speak, but was stopped by Ryuu’s lips on his. Ryuu kissed him almost desperately, holding him close as it was physically possible. The small crowd that had gathered rolled their eyes, and walked away in a murmur of gossiping and speculation. Ryuu tangled his fingers in Oli’s hair, and Oli just draped his arms round Ryuu’s shoulders, thinking of what to say to him. When Ryuu finally relinquished his grip on Oli, he grinned sheepishly. “Sorry- ” “Don’t sweat it, mate…say, is that your camera?” Oli raised a hand dismissively, and then used it to point at the shattered video camera on the floor. Ryuu muttered a string of obscenities under his breath as he bent down and scooped up the broken pieces, carrying them over to a nearby bin and dumping them in grumpily. Oli came over and patted Ryuu’s shoulder, but Ryuu brushed him off and walked away on his own, hands in his pocket sullenly.

Irja stormed under the covered walkway, his fists bunched, looking ready to punch anyone who looked at him funny. He passed a boy with spiked black hair, biking leathers and tattoos all over his bare arms. The rather evil looking boy was leant against a wall, smoking. Irja had to double take, the kid was smoking! At school? He couldn’t possibly- “What you looking at, kid,” the leather clad boy growled, pushing himself off the wall and dropping his cigarette, crushing it under his foot. Cracking his knuckles, the boy (the author would like to giggle now because she knows you’re all screaming Jay’s name at the computer by now) advanced. Irja backed off slightly, green eyes wide in panic. “Err…Err, are you certain you smoke on school premises?” he stumbled over his words, his alarm scattering his English vocabulary like a cat through a flock of birds. The boy smirked, and he lunged, grabbing Irja by the collar, and throwing a powerful punch at the side of his head. “I do what I like, goody-boy,” he growled, and punched him in the chin viciously. Irja cried out, and fell to his knees when the vicious boy let go. Irja supported himself on hands and knees, spitting up blood, where he’d bitten his lip badly. “Trés désolé,” Irja whimpered, looking up at his attacker. “Don’t mess with Canvas, Frenchy,” he growled, before stalking away. Irja rocked back, kneeling on the floor and gasping for breath. His head was swimming, and blood was oozing down his chin and neck from the split in his lip. The sound of footsteps echoed beneath the staccato beat of the rain, and Irja looked round. Another boy was walking towards him, and when he saw the blood on Irja’s face, and on the floor, he raced over. Kneeling down by Irja, he touched his shoulder. “Are you okay? What happened? I’m Jared, by the way,” Jared looked concerned, and Irja just stared blankly at him. He opened his mouth to speak, but shut it again. Trying again, he managed to stumble over a sentence. “I … Saw this garcon…err…boy, who smoked. He hit me. Told me his name is Canvas…” Irja was still staring at Jared, taken aback. “Oh! That’s Jay, evil bastard. Here, let me help you up,” he made a face when he said about Jay, but then smiled and stood up, holding out a hand for Irja. Irja took it cautiously, and Jared pulled him to his feet. Loosing his balance, Irja stumbled and fell, but Jared caught him. Irja felt his face burn red when he realised his face was buried in Jared’s chest, and he leapt back, eyes wide. “Err…Merci, for helping me, Jared,” he smiled nervously, and glanced at the blood. Shouldn’t they clean it up? Jared reached into his pocket, and pulled out a pack of tissues. He took one, and blew his nose, before stuffing it in his pocket. Taking another one, he stepped closer to Irja and wiped the blood off his face. Irja stiffened up, and he blushed slightly. Jared put a hand on his shoulder, and wiped the blood off his neck as well. “Jay is such a prick. He does this to all the new kids,” Jared said, completely oblivious to Irja’s discomfort. Irja nodded dumbly, and smiled slightly. “Come on, I’ll show you around,” he grinned, and they walked off together, Jared talking animatedly about the school, filling in Irja on all the latest gossip. Ryuu watched from a distance, and his face set into a hard glare. Irja was clearly swooning over Jared, and Jared was just entertaining it. Ryuu did not like it one bit, and felt a serpent of jealousy uncoil in the pit of his stomach.
